ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Our Undergraduate Majors

You won't just learn how to teach—you'll be working with children and supporting their development requires rigorous classroom training and abundant field experience. That's exactly what you'll get at Endicott.

In addition to coursework, extensive field experiences are a hallmark of our programs, beginning with internships in both freshman and sophomore years. We will work with you individually to ensure that your placements allow you to explore your interests and help you meet your goals.

Students complete a literacy placement during their sophomore year and an English-language learners (ELL) placement junior year. Also, during junior year they complete a pre-practicum field experience and a teaching practicum in their senior year.

There is also an option to add the moderate disabilities license (PreK-8) by taking additional courses and meeting the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) requirements. All educational studies majors pursue a semester-long internship in the senior year.

Early Childhood Teacher Licensure Concentration BA

Secondary Teacher Licensure Concentration BA

Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL)

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education mandates that teacher candidates pass the required MTEL in order to obtain a teaching license. Endicott incorporates the relevant MTEL tests into its licensure programs.

MTEL Requirements (licensure students only): Students must pass the Communication and Literacy MTEL, plus one additional MTEL, prior to enrolling in junior year pre-practicum and methods courses.

All MTELs must be passed prior to registering for senior year practicum. (Don’t worry, Endicott has free-of-charge, intensive test preparation workshops built into the curriculum.)
