Shakespeare鈥檚 most popular comedy centers around the woodland adventures of four young lovers, a group of amateur actors and their interactions with fairies, and a duke and duchess. Hermia is in love with Lysander, but her father wants her to marry Demetrius. To escape the arranged marriage, she and Lysander elope into the woods. Demetrius follows them, and he is pursued by Helena, who nurses an unrequited passion for him. A love quadrangle develops among the young lovers when mischievous Puck plays Cupid. Meanwhile, a group of amateur actors rehearses a badly-written play, and soon all find their lives changed by the doings of Oberon and Titania, the warring king and queen of the fairies. Magic, action, love and humor are the ingredients in this unforgettable spell.
Centered around the idea that love uproots us and turns our world upside down, this production integrates the use of aerial silks, with choreography led by area expert Eileen Little of Gloucester, MA. The cast, crew and artistic staff are comprised of Endicott students and professionals from all over the globe. Local cast members are Jacob DeFillipo as Lysander (Lynn), Marielle Sabbag as Francis Flute (Reading), Jimmy Turner as Oberon (Hamilton), Caroline Spinali as Hermia and Kayleigh Barrucci as Peter Quince (both of Burlington). Area Artistic and Production Staff include Katie Clarke, Assistant Director (Salem), Cole Lundquist, Music Director (Lynnfield), Alyssa Olsen, Stage Manager (Georgetown), Diane McLean, Production Manager (Reading), Cassie Foote, Dramaturg (Gloucester), and Penny Singh, Artistic and Staging Director (Salem).
