(WORK)Placemakers: Innovators in Design at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É

October 25, 2016

Human needs are complex, the work place is dynamic, and innovation is a necessity. (WORK)Placemakers: Innovators in Design is a multi-faceted exhibition where industry leaders have come together to share their knowledge and expertise on designing for the evolution of the workplace.  Herman Miller, Humanscale, Knoll, and Steelcase, Inc. Each contributed an innovative piece of furniture to represent the ever changing space that we as humans call (WORK)space.  Whether work takes place at home, in an office setting, or a public space, designers are creating innovative pieces to provide you comfort, a sense of security, and all the amenities that the current work force may need.  A computer presentation by each of the industry leaders is located in the Spencer Presentation Gallery, and the furniture components are located in the Grillo Gallery.

Join us on Thursday, October 27 from 5 – 6 p.m. for a panel discussion including representatives from the four industry leaders in this exhibition, moderated by the New England Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASIDNE). The panel discussion will focus on questions to the participants regarding their own organization’s perspective on where have we been, what are the current design trends for diverse users, where are we going, and what will it look like in the future?  The exhibition, panel discussion, and reception are free and open to the public.

ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É Interior Design professor Sarah Campernel , who has assisted with the coordination of this exhibition,  reminds us that the design of interior environments needs to focus on the physical and psychological needs of the end user.  Our students benefit from experiential learning, studio practice, and connecting with innovators in the field.

The Department of Interior Design At ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É offers a four-year learning experience for students seeking professional practice in the design of interior architectural environments.  The Department’s goal is to provide students with the problem-solving abilities and creative design skills to achieve success as the next generation of interior design professionals.  An emphasis is placed throughout the curriculum on sustainable design and the built environment.  The baccalaureate degree program is accredited by Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Art and Design (NASAD).  Endicott also offers an MFA and MA in Interior Architecture.
