Event Cancelled Due to Snow: Symphony by the Sea’s concertmistress, Lisa Brooke, and ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É adjunct professor, Mariah Steele, will whet your appetite for the upcoming Symphony by the Sea concert, “Shall We Dance?” Ms. Brooke will play excerpts and discuss the Hungarian and Romanian pieces on the full-length program. Ms. Steele will demonstrate and lead attendees in folk dances of the region, and delicious treats will be provided. Yes, you will get to dance to Hungarian and Romanian folk tunes!

 

This “Hungry for Hungarian” sneak preview will take place on Thursday, February 5 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. in the Carol Grillo Gallery in the Walter J. Manninen Center for the Arts at ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É, 376 Hale St., Beverly, MA.  The event is free and open to the public, but please RSVP to (978) 998-7700.

“Hungry for Hungarian,” one of the many ways ÑÇÖÞÉ«°É and Symphony by the Sea celebrate their partnership, will be a preview of the Symphony’s concert program, “Shall We Dance?” to be performed on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Abbot Hall in Marblehead, MA and Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Firehouse Center for the Performing Arts in Newburyport, MA at 3:00 P.M. The program will include Rhapsodies and dances by Enescu, Kodaly, Bartok, Liszt and Brahms with guest violin soloist, Romanian born Irina Muresanu. Tickets for the actual concert are available at www.symphonybythesea.org.

“Hungry for Hungarian” is free, but it is best to RSVP by leaving a message at the box office at (978) 998-7700. Tickets to the upcoming full-length Symphony by the Sea concerts in Marblehead and Newburyport can be purchased for $35 general admission, $5 for students in grades K-12, at www.symphonybythesea.org.
